Simba, March 1996 - August 31st 2006
In 1996 I decided to get a new kitten. My friend's cat had a litter of four, they were so cute! I chose a lovely black & white one and awaited the day he was old enough to come home. However, when the kittens were 4 weeks old one of them got a virus and was very poorly. I was scared my kitty would catch it too, so I took him home at just 4 weeks of age. I named him Simba, he was to become my new baby & little brother and playmate to my other treasured cat, Rusty.
Simba used to sleep across my neck as a kitten, purring loudly until he fell asleep, something he continued to do for the rest of his life, i loved Simba so much and he never strayed far from me.
Sadly, on August 31st 2006 Simba, in seemingly good health asked to go out into the back garden, it was just after 10pm and i let him out a little while. When he didnt come back in i went to call for him to go to bed. That's when i found my beautiful baby curled up beside the back floor, as if sleeping under the stars, but he wasn't sleeping, his little heart was no longer beating and he could no longer see.
My heart broke the next day as i buried him, i couldn't imagine life without Simba. Rusty had flown to pussy heaven just a year before him, and i prayed they had found each other on the other side.
I will always miss my cats and i have a new one in my life today, she can't replace my other fur-babies but i truly love her, her name is Cindy, and she is beautiful!
Play on little Simba, i will always love you baby!

A Cat's Letter From Rainbow Bridge

To have loved and then said farewell is better than to have never loved at all.
For all of the times that you stooped and stroked my head, fed me my favourite treats and returned the love that I so unconditionally gave to you, for the care that you gave to me so unselfishly, for allowing me to sit on your lap and sleep on your bed, for all of these things I am grateful and thankful. I ask that you not grieve for  my loss but rejoice in the fact that we lived, loved and touched each other's lives.
My life was fuller because you were there, not as an owner, but as my best friend. Today, I am as I was in my youth. The grass is always green, butterflies flit among fthe flowers, mice run in the fields and birds flutter above my head. The sun shines gently down upon all of God's creatures. I can run, jump and play and do all of the things that I did when i was small. There is no sickness, no aching joints, no regrets and no ageing. We play and await the arrival of our lifelong companions and we know that togetherness is forever. You live in our hearts as we do in yours. Companions such as you are very rare and unique. Don't hold the love that you have within yourself now.
Give it to another pet like me and then I will live forever. For love never really dies,
and you are loved and missed as surely as we are.

love from your furbaby
